SEYMOUR, Ind. (WISH) - A Seymour man has been charged with murder and arson after a woman was found inside a burning car in rural Jackson County early Friday morning.

A newspaper delivery driver came upon the burning car, 24-Hour News 8 news partner The Republic of Columbus reported , just before 3 a.m. Friday and called 911. Indiana State Police responded to the scene at Jackson County roads 700 North and 1075 East. After firefighters put out the fire, a body was found inside the car.

The person inside the car was identified as Tabitha Brock, 23, Seymour, and it was determined that she was dead before the car fire. Investigators found no evidence that the car had been involved in a crash.

By Friday afternoon, police had arrested Gerald Eugene Combs Jr., 29, Seymour, and preliminarily charged him with murder, arson and neglect of a dependant.
