SHELBYVILLE, Ind. (WISH) - A Shelbyville man faces nearly 60 years in prison after pleading guilty to the January 2012 murder of his landlady.
William Goode pleaded guilty to the Jan. 6, 2012 stabbing death of his landlady, 74-year-old Genevieve Kelly . Police found bloody clothes, a knife and items owned by Kelly under Goode's bed.
He was sentenced to 65 years with the Indiana Department of Correction with five years suspended. He was given credit for a little more than two years.
As part of the plea agreement other counts were dismissed.
In court on Friday, Goode maintained his innocence, 24-Hour News 8’s news partner, The Shelbyville News , reports. Goode said he was present at the crime scene but didn’t stab Kelly.
