ANDERSON, Ind. (WISH) - An Anderson man who beat his girlfriend and killed her dog and eight puppies has been sentenced to 14 years in prison.
Dennis White was arrested in March after grocery store employees became concerned after seeing him covered in blood.
Investigators said he confessed to beating his girlfriend and stabbing her dog after it bit him. Police said the dog was coming to the aid of the woman and gave her enough time to get away from White.
Police said the fight began after the girlfriend refused to give White part of her tax return.
White was out on bond on a child molestation charge at the time, police said.
He pleaded guilty to criminal confinement and cruelty to animals.
