INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department have arrested a man wanted for battery on an officer.
Officers saw a man walking in a construction zone Friday night and approached him, as there have been recent thefts in work areas, police say.
The suspect hit an officer in the face on the 4000 block of E. 82nd Street and fled.
The suspect then jumped into a pond and swam out to a sandbar. After a short time, the man disappeared.
A K-9 unit was called to the scene, in addition to a helicopter. The Indianapolis Fire Department Dive Team was on stand-by.
Officers say the K-9 captured the suspect at the lake behind the construction zone.
