KNOX COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) - An Illinois man was arrested in Knox County late Saturday night after a hit and run he was involved in escalated into a fight.

Police responded to the hit and run crash shortly after 11:45 p.m. Officers were told one driver struck a parked car on Main Street in front of a tavern.

A bouncer at the tavern witnessed the crash and approached the driver, 21-year-old Kurtis Waller, to say he needed to stay and wait for police.

Waller then struck the bouncer in the face.

Police located Waller in the tavern. He was taken to the Knox County Jail where it was found he had a .16 percent blood alcohol content.

Waller faces preliminary charges of driving while intoxicated, a Class A misdemeanor, battery, a Class B misdemeanor, and leaving the scene of a crash, a Class C misdemeanor.
