VALPARAISO, Ind. (WISH) - A northwestern Indiana man faces two years in prison after pleading guilty to intimidating and battering a police officer during a drunken driving arrest on his moped.
The Times of Munster reports that 48-year-old Darin Medley pleaded guilty Monday to a felony count of intimidation, and misdemeanor charges of resisting law enforcement, battery to a police officer and drunken driving. The proposed agreement calls for a six-year prison sentence, with four years suspended.
Porter County police said they stopped Medley on Sept. 9 he fled. When police caught Medley, he reportedly tried to grab the officer's gun and asked him if he wanted to die.
The officer said Medley reportedly apologized, saying he didn't remember reaching for the officer's gun because he was drunk.
Sentencing is May 21.
