Man pleads guilty to battery in police knifing

COLUMBUS, Ind. (THE REPUBLIC) - A Columbus man charged with attempted murder in the stabbing of a police officer pleaded guilty Monday to a lesser charge of aggravated battery.

Carl J. Drucker II, 38, stabbed Columbus Police Patrolman Marc Hutcheson in the torso Dec. 1, according to his guilty plea.

Hutcheson and CPD Patrolman Greg Ross were trying to arrest Drucker on an outstanding warrant for a parole violation when Drucker pulled a Bowie knife and attacked the officers on the second floor of a Hutchins Avenue house, according to a probable cause affidavit.
