ANDERSON, Ind. (AP) - A central Indiana man has pleaded guilty to charges he killed a police dog while he was trying to evade capture following a bank robbery.

The Herald Bulletin reports that 22-year-old Joseph Turner of Anderson pleaded guilty Tuesday to charges including armed robbery, criminal recklessness, pointing a firearm and striking a law enforcement animal. His sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 5.

Police say Turner robbed a PNC bank in Anderson at gunpoint last August and was fleeing police when he shot a police dog during a scuffle. The dog named Magnum died a few days later.

Magnum was the second Anderson police dog to die in the line of duty within a month.
