TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) - A man who owned a gun later used to kill a Terre Haute police officer has been sentenced to 18 months in federal prison.
Federal prosecutors say 48-year-old Brad Keller of Terre Haute was sentenced Tuesday on charges of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
The indictment charged that Keller in June 2011 had the gun that that was later obtained by a man who was convicted of selling it to Shaun Seeley. Police say Seeley used it to shoot Officer Brent Long before killing himself in July 2011.
The man who sold it to Seeley, 41-year-old Scott Griffy, was sentenced last August to seven years in prison on two gun-related charges.
