INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - A man police say was involved in the shooting of an Indianapolis police officer last summer as he sat in his patrol car filling out a report has struck a plea deal.
Johnny Taboada-Perez pleaded guilty to assisting a criminal and possession of marijuana. He was sentenced Tuesday to 180 days in community corrections and home detention.
He was arrested after Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Officer Dustin Carmack was shot in the hip area as he was sitting in his patrol car Aug. 26 near Michigan Street and Tibbs Avenue, filling out a report after responding to a fight. According to court documents, Taboada-Perez was driving the passing car from which the shots were fired at Carmack.
