INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Metro Police say they've located a key person of interest in a deadly shooting at a bar on the city’s northwest side.
Leon Pepper, 25, was shot in the back and killed following a fight that broke out involving several young men inside Kelly's Pub.
"It doesn't seem like there was any true justification for the shooting," said IMPD Detective Kevin Duley.
IMPD released surveillance tape of the fight that began in the bar and moved outside into the parking lot. ( To watch the surveillance video click on the video player)
The video shows Pepper hitting a man named "Mike" who is wearing yellow. Police say they've recently located "Mike" and consider him a person of interest in the case.
Shortly after Pepper hits "Mike," the video shows him getting hit by an unidentified man. Police say Pepper was then shot by an unidentified guy in a gray sweatshirt who also left the pub. No one is sure, but some say the fight was over women.
"I was just surprised. This was my worst nightmare something like this happening being a bar owner."
Kelly's Pub's owner didn't want his face on camera, but he told 24-Hour News 8 he's now concerned about business.
"I have businessmen who come in here, construction workers and blue collar workers and at night, I mean I have, it's just a wide array of people who come into the establishment, said the owner.
Police say the shooter took off in a white or light colored custom van. They believe the incident involved about five guys.
"It seems like it got out of hand over next to nothing unless there's more to this story which time will tell during the investigation," said Duley.
Police have a pretty good look of the suspect from the tape.
They say the custom white or light colored van is key to their investigation. Meantime, the pub is back open.
Anyone with information about this case is encouraged to call Homicide at (317) 327-3475 or Crime Stoppers at (317) 262-TIPS.
