Man stabbed at Hanover College dorm

HANOVER, Ind. (WISH) - A Hanover College student was arrested after stabbing a visitor in a dorm early Sunday morning, according to police.

Police reported that around 1:19 a.m. the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and the Hanover Police Department arrived to the scene of a person stabbed at Wiley Hall, a dorm on campus.

According to police, the victim, 23-year-old Vincent E Johnson, of Jamestown, was visiting an acquaintance at the college when he was stabbed in the back by Hanover College student Demetrius C. Jones, 20, of Columbus.

According to police, the stabbing was a result of a dispute that occurred between the two men at a gathering on campus and continued to escalate at Wiley Hall.

Johnson was taken to a nearby hospital before being taken by medical helicopter to a hospital in Louisville, Ky.

Jones was taken into custody and is being held at the Jefferson County Jail, according to police. He faces preliminary charges of aggravated battery, a Class B felony, and criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, a Class C felony.
