INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Indianapolis Metropolitan Police are hoping security camera pictures of a man stealing a scooter at knifepoint will lead to his capture and arrest.
Police say the June 22 scooter jacking took place around 11 p.m. as the victim was standing outside of a Citgo gas station with his scooter on the 2500 block of North Sherman Drive.
The suspect was captured on camera as walked out of the station and attacked him.
The suspect walked up to the victim, saying, “Give me that,” then stabbed the victim in the side under the left arm, according to Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department reports.
The suspect also snatched a nearby backpack and phone of a second victim, before he fled the scene. He then fled northbound on Sherman Drive as the victim was tending to his wounds.
The victim said he did not get a good look of the suspect, but police have released photographs from the gas station's video cameras.
The victim was taken to Wishard Hospital.
The scooter was a black and silver 2008 Kinroad Xitian scooter, VIN: HY50QT6.
The suspect also stole a red, black and white backpack that contained identification cards and a purple LG Droid cell phone.
