INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Police are seeking the public’s help to find a suspect in a robbery and shooting earlier this month, when a resident walked in on a burglar and ended up shot.

Officers were called to a home in the 1400 block of Grant Avenue on the afternoon of May 9, where they found a 43-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to his back. The victim was still in critical condition at Methodist Hospital as of Friday evening, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said.

IMPD now has a suspect in the shooting: George Williams, seen in the photo above. He is described as a white male, 5-foot-8, 150 pounds, with brown hair and brown/hazel eyes. He is considered to be armed and dangerous. A warrant has been issued for his arrest on the preliminary charges of attempted murder, burglary, criminal confinement, theft-receiving stolen property and carrying a handgun without a permit.

Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers, 317-262-8477 (TIPS) or IMPD homicide office, 317-327-3475. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous, and information that leads to felony arrest may be eligible for cash reward.
