INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Metro Police tell 24-Hour News 8 one of their own has been put on desk duty while the department investigates whether he is guilty of excessive force.

The incident happened May 31 during a domestic disturbance case at a home in the 4000 block of Arquette Drive on the northeast side, according to police.

The department says Officer Nhat Nguyen placed an unruly man in a headlock and had to be pulled off of the man by other officers. Police say the man, 32-year-old Jimmy Bailey, was having trouble breathing.

Police say they were called out to the home after Bailey's girlfriend accused him of stealing her keys. Bailey was handcuffed when he allegedly became aggravated. That's when Nguyen placed him in the hold.
