Family pleads for info in double homicide

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Police continue to canvas an Indianapolis neighborhood and hand out fliers after a 7-year-old and 21-year-old were found shot to death Monday .

Family members had a prayer vigil Tuesday, while they await answers on what happened to the young girl and her uncle.

Police say Jeremy Crane was babysitting his niece, Kyleigh Crane, who was home from school sick. The two were found in the same room shot to death. Police say there were no signs of forced entry at the home in the 600 block of Woodlark Drive.

“This was my home. I can never walk into my house again," said Cathy Crane, mother of Jeremy and grandmother of Kyleigh. "I want them to catch who did this.”

Surrounded by family, friends and strangers, Crane shared her emotional plea with the community.

“If you saw anything or heard anything, you have got to come talk to (police)," she said. "(Kyleigh) was a first-grader. What could she have possibly done wrong? Tell me. Make sense of it. Because none of us can make any sense of this.”

Crime Stoppers is offering up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest in the case. Anyone with information should call 262-TIPS. Callers can remain anonymous.

“Sometimes people wait and see if they are going to offer money, especially this time a year. That could be something going on,” said Cumberland Police Chief Mike Crooke.

Police and family members are pleading for anyone with knowledge of what happened to come forward.

"I can’t describe the feelings running through me. If you have any kind of heart, if you know anything, please come forward," Kyleigh's mother, Holly Wilson, said.
