Monthlong investigation leads to man's arrest

SHELBYVILLE, Ind. (WISH) - A 25-year-old man was arrested for child molestation Wednesday after a month long police investigation.
Our partners at the Shelbyville News say Derek L. Pearce of Shelbyville violated a 12-year-old girl who was in his care in at least two separate occasions. The girl's family alerted police in October.
Pearce told police the incidents were accidents. He told police, "Well some people are monsters and deserve jail time, but some people just might have something mentally wrong with them. Depends on the person, depends on the case."
Police say witnesses told them Pearce is addicted to sex. Pearce posted a $50,000 bond Wednesday.
