Mud catches suspect in 100 mph chase

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Two men were in police custody Friday morning following a chase that left their Cadillac Escalade stuck in the mud.

Police say the chase topped speeds of 100 mph and lasted about 17 minutes as the men fled from a drug deal.

According to the police report, officers were conducting a drug investigation just before 11 p.m. when Christopher Reynolds used a stun gun in an attempt to rob another man.

Reynolds and his brother, Brock, both climbed into the Escalade and fled as officers moved in and tired to intervene.

Police say Brock jumped from the vehicle as it sped down Tibbs Avenue, he was later apprehended.

Meanwhile, Christopher continued at a high rate of speed in a “reckless manner causing a substantial risk of bodily injury to law enforcement officers and the innocent motoring public,” the report reads.

The chase ended when the Escalade came to rest in thick mud at the bottom of an embankment at Interstates 70 and 465 around 11 p.m.

Both men face charges of robbery, resisting law enforcement, possession of marijuana and dealing marijuana charges.
