MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) - A Muncie police officer has been fired after officials say she sent a threatening text to another woman.
Police Chief Steve Stewart told The Star Press on Friday that Officer Amy Fisher had been in a relationship with the other woman's husband.
The eastern Indiana city's police merit commission voted to dismiss Fisher on Thursday. Stewart says she had been on unpaid leave since May. She had been an officer since 1998.
Fisher didn't return phone calls seeking comment Saturday. She didn't attend the commission meeting, but she has denied sending the text.
Stewart says Fisher allegedly used a relative's cellphone to threaten the woman with drug charges, and then urged her relative not to cooperate with investigators.
Muncie is about 50 miles northeast of Indianapolis.
