MUNCIE, Ind. (WISH) - A Muncie man facing dog fighting charges was sentenced in court Monday afternoon.

Court officials say Rahsaan Johnson will serve four years in jail for possessing an animal used in fighting contests, promoting an animal in a fighting contest and cruelty to an animal.

The prosecutor dropped 17 of 43 charges originally pressed against Johnson.

Johnson was arrested in April 2012 after more than two dozen pit bulls were seized from his mobile home. Police seized 25 pit bulls from the home. Many of the dogs had injuries consistent with dog fighting. One dog had to be put down due to severe injuries and a skull fracture.
