INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Detectives with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department say that after an extensive search for a crime scene, they were unable to locate any evidence of a shooting that a victim says occurred on the Monon Trail Tuesday.

Just before 6 p.m. Tuesday, officers were dispatched to the 800 block of E. 86th St. to the report of a person shot. When police arrived they found a male victim suffering from apparent injuries to his back.

The victim was taken to the hospital with injuries that are believed to be non-life-threatening.

The victim told police he was shot somewhere on the Monon Trail.

Wednesday, detectives were unable to locate any evidence. They believe the victim suffered from graze wounds instead of gunshots.

The incident is being considered an active investigation.

Detectives are working with the victim to determine more information about events before the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to contact detectives at 317-327-3733.
