GOSHEN, Ind. (AP) - A northern Indiana man has been found guilty of killing a 23-year-old female neighbor by stabbing her more than 50 times.
The Goshen News and Elkhart Truth report an Elkhart County jury found 30-year-old Tyrice Halliburton of Bristol guilty Thursday of murdering Sheena Kiska.
Police say Halliburton killed Kiska on March 18, 2008, after she came home while he was burglarizing her apartment. Her 4-year-old daughter discovered her body.
Halliburton's former girlfriend testified he told her about the murder shortly after he committed it
Kiska's family has been pushing for a state law making it easier for crime victims to break leases. They say she wanted to move after her apartment was burglarized a month before she was killed but couldn't afford to pay the penalty of three months' rent.
