Former IMPD officer sentenced 8 years

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - David Butler, an Indianapolis Metropolitan police officer, was sentenced to 8 years Friday for abusing his power more than once to steal hundreds, even thousands, of dollars from those he pulled over.

Butler received 4 years suspended, 3 year incarceration, 1 year community corrections and 1 year probation.

Butler was sentenced Friday in Marion County Criminal Court 1.

He was found guilty on all four felony counts on Feb. 7.
