INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - An Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Officer shot at a suspect during a foot chase Tuesday night.
According to a release from IMPD, an IMPD officer attempted to make a traffic stop around 6:15 p.m. in the 4300 block of East 10th Street. The passenger in the vehicle fled the scene, and an officer spotted a handgun in the suspect's hand.
Officials say the suspect hid behind the dumpster, and jumped out with the handgun when the officer approached. Fearing for his life, the officer fired his weapon, but did not hit the suspect.
The suspect has been identified as 22-year-old Coble Sterling. Officers are still investigating this incident.
