INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - An Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Officer shot and killed a pit bull Thursday night according to police reports.
The officer was responding to a call when the dog ran across the street and tried to attack him. The officer pulled his duty weapon and shot the dog. Police reports indicate the dog ran off.
The owner located the dog and surrendered it to Animal care and Control because of its injuries from the gun shot.
The dog had to be put down because of its injuries.
Police indicate the dog was not current on its rabies vaccination.
