INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Metro Police say three young men tied up and threatened an east side grandmother and her 10-year-old grandson Friday morning.
Police say around 6:30 a.m. the robbers slipped into a window at the home in the 3700 block of Manor Court.
The young men confronted the grandmother, Mattie White, who police say is in her 70s, and demanded to see her son, Alan White. When the woman told the robbers that Alan wasn't home, they used belts to tie up her and her grandson.
The robbers then grabbed a flat-screen TV and a Nintendo Wii gaming system and left the home.
Alan White told 24-Hour News 8 he believes that, leading up to the incident, he was being followed by the suspects.
"Somebody must be watching me. I usually get in at 8 a.m. I don't know why they would think I had any money. I'm unemployed," he said.
Officers stressed that they believe this is an isolated incident in a normally safe neighborhood. But several elderly neighbors told 24-Hour News 8's Jacqueline Policastro that they're shocked and scared after learning about the incident.
