Police: Mom shot son in murder-suicide

TAYLORSVILLE, Ind. (WISH) - Investigators in Bartholomew County said Tuesday 72-year-old Saundra Harter shot and killed her 51-year old son Greg Thomas.

Harter then shot herself in the chest, officers say.

The mother and son lived in a mobile home park in Taylorsville just west of I-65.

A neighbor called the mobile home park manager after noticing Harter's mailbox was not being emptied.

The manager called the sheriff's department. Two deputies then visited the home, went inside, and found the bodies along with a revolver.

Investigators believe they had been dead for about a week.

They don't know what led to the shooting.
