SPENCER COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) - Police in Spencer County say a 2-week-old child who was abducted by his mother has been returned safe.
Jacob Spencer Black was taken from his legal guardians by his biological mother, according to an Indiana State Police release.
The Santa Claus Police Department responded to a residence on the 800 block of West Shepherd’s Lane at 1:30 p.m. Saturday to the report of a possible child abduction and stolen car.
Information from a preliminary investigation reveals that the child’s mother, Carrie J. Black, went to her parents for a supervised visit.
Her parents are the child’s legal guardians.
At a point during the visit, Carrie Black was left alone with the child. She then took him, along with her parent’s credit cards and tan, Toyota Camry four door.
She left the area.
Carrie and Randy Black turned themselves in to the Dale Police Department Sunday. 2-week-old Jacob was safe and turned over to Child Protective Services.
The two were arrested and taken to the Spencer County Jail.
Carrie J. Black faces preliminary charges of two counts of theft, a Class D felony, and interference with custody, a Class D felony.
