LAWRENCE, Ind. (WISH) - Lawrence Police put out a warning to residents of an apartment complex Wednesday after a report that a man tried to abduct three children.

A mother called police around 7:45 p.m. Tuesday when an 11-year-old and two 8-year-old girls said they were approached by a man in a car, according to a Lawrence police report. It happened at Churchill Apartments, 8015 Louisville Way.

The man, simply described as black and driving a light blue shiny car, told the girls to get in the van, according to the report. When they said no, the man asked the girls to help him find his dog.

Lawrence Police officials told parents to have a heightened sense of awareness. Anyone who witnesses suspicious people or activity is asked to call police.
