FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Police arrested a 36-year-old woman who they say is behind a string of armed robberies in the Fort Wayne area.
Police arrested Traci Dennison after she stole two cars Sunday morning. Dennison stole a white Pontiac Bonneville from the parking lot of the Kmart located at 820 N. Coliseum Boulevard around 9:45 a.m. Police found the stolen car, which Dennison crashed, a short while later.
According to police, Dennison then stole a black Acura in the parking lot of the Target store located at 6119 Stellhorn Road around 10:30 a.m.
Police said a car chase ensued on Reed Road after officers spotted Dennison driving the Acura that had been reported stolen.
According to a FWPD spokesperson, when Dennison was finally pulled over and apprehended by police, she admitted to stealing the cars at both Kmart and Target earlier that day.
Police said Dennison also had two active warrants out for her arrest stemming from an armed robbery at the Walgreens on State Road 1 on January 11. Dennison entered the store and pointed a black handgun at the cashier and demanded money. When the cashier was unable to open the register, Dennison took a customer's purse instead, then fled the store with it.
