Police recover stolen vehicle, arrest suspect

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Friday night, IMPD officers recovered a stolen vehicle and arrested the suspected thief.
While on duty, an officer observed a white Toyota in the 700 block of Grant that was previously reported stolen. The officer stayed on scene until he saw a person get into the vehicle and drive off. When the officer drove behind the stolen vehicle, the driver sped up.
The IMPD officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver refused to stop and a pursuit began. The suspect later attempted to flee on foot. Officers set up a perimeter and were able to quickly capture the suspect.
The suspect has been identified as 23-year-old Christopher Nelson of Indianapolis.
Nelson was arrested and charged with auto theft and resisting law enforcement.
