RICHMOND, Ind. (AP) - Police say a man who robbed a bank in Richmond told the teller he needed money because his mother was dying of cancer.
Richmond Police Department Capt. Jim Branum tells the Palladium-Item a U.S. Bank branch in the city near the border of Indiana and Ohio was robbed about 2 p.m. Tuesday.
Branum says the man told the teller he had a gun and that his father was watching from the parking lot to make sure officials didn't try to stop him. Police say no weapon was seen. Branum didn't say how much money the suspect received.
Branum says the man fled on foot and police dogs were unable to find him.
Police say the suspect was wearing a mask, a camouflage jacket and white pants.
