ORANGE COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) - A 15 mile police pursuit in southern Indiana led to the arrest of two people Thursday afternoon.
According to a release from the Orange County Sheriff Department, the pursuit began just south of Paoli around 2:30 p.m. The suspect vehicle traveled down CR 175S into Crawford County. During the pursuit, the suspect reportedly threw a number of objects from the vehicle. Some of the objects were later identified as a .25 caliber semi-automatic pistol, narcotics, a needle and other drug paraphernalia.
The vehicle continued to travel until running out of gas and turned into a farmer's field. Officers say the driver of the vehicle then began to run on foot. Police were able to detain the driver about 400 yards from the car.
As a result, police arrested 27-year-old Michael Andrew Ray and 29-year-old Naomi Ruth Stevens. Both were taken into custody and transported to the Orange County Jail.
As a result of the incident, officials later obtained a search warrant. The warrant resulted in the discovery of 44 grams of methamphetamine. The meth has a street value of more than $50,000.
Ray and Stevens were charged with dealing methamphetamine, resisting law enforcement using a vehicle, theft, and carrying a handgun without a permit.
