COLUMBUS, Ind. (The Republic) - A drunk man who couldn’t figure out how he got to a Columbus car dealership called police on himself, police officials told 24-Hour News 8 partner The Republic .

The man, 32-year-old William M. Hendershot, was found at Renner Motors, 3055 Central Ave, with a 6-inch cut on his arm. The business had also been broken into and Hendershot's blood-alcohol concentration was .119.

Hendershot reportedly told police he was drinking at Caddie’s Pub, 2761 Central Ave., and left early Saturday morning when the bar closed. But, he called police when he found himself at the car dealership and couldn’t remember how he got there or what caused damage to the business.

Police arrested Hendershot on preliminary charges of burglary, a Class C felony; criminal mischief, a Class A misdemeanor; and public intoxication, a Class A misdemeanor. He was booked into Bartholomew County Jail and released Monday morning after serving 48 hours, according to jail records.

Bartholomew County Prosecutor Bill Nash will determine what charges, if any, will be filed.
