COLUMBUS, Ind. (The Republic) - Several pill bottles fell out of a man’s car after a short pursuit in Columbus over the weekend, police told 24-Hour News 8 news partner The Republic .
The chase began near National Road and Washington Street after police say 34-year-old Ernest Shipley Jr. ran a stop light at National Road and Central Avenue.
After several blocks, Shipley stopped near 25th Street, police said. They found multiple pill bottles in his car, including prescription painkillers.
Shipley was first taken to Columbus Regional Hospital to be evaluated for possible consumption of the medicine, and was later arrested on preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, reckless driving, operating a vehicle without ever obtaining a license, and five counts of possession of a controlled substance.
