INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - An IMPD K9 officer suffered a serious eye injury after a run-in with a fleeing suspect.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department says 23-year-old Carlton Brown was armed and fleeing from police when he injured 4-year-old Dutch Shepherd Shadow.

Shadow suffered a serious eye injury, but veterinarians say he will not lose his eye and will fully recover, eventually.

Brown was charged with dealing and possession of cocaine, battery on law enforcement animal, possession of marijuana, resisting law enforcement, and possession of a firearm without a license.
