LAPORTE, Ind. (AP) - A man who failed to report back to a the work release center as scheduled was apprehended after LaPorte County deputies followed his footprints in the snow for about 8 miles.

Sheriff's Chief Deputy Jim Sosinski says 40-year-old Kenneth Bunn was arrested about 7 a.m. Sunday in LaPorte. Sosinski says officers received a tip where Bunn might be after he failed to return Saturday. Sosinski says deputies spotted fresh footprints and began following them on foot, but switched to patrol car when the steps went along a street. He says Bunn surrendered when officers spotted him.

Bunn was ordered held without bond in the LaPorte County Jail. Court records did not show a date had been set for an initial hearing. No attorney for Bunn was listed.
