SHELBY COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) - Shelby County police officers are investigating a handful of robberies in the area after they arrested two men.

24-Hour News 8 news partner The Shelbyville News reports Ricky W. Beauchamp, 37,of Indianapolis, and Samuel L. Sims, 25, of Indianapolis, were arrested Thursday after they allegedly burglarized a home Tuesday. Witnesses told police the men were going door-to-door asking for scrap metal. Sims admitted to the crime.

More burglaries occurred on Wednesday including a report of $20,000 worth of rings missing from a woman’s jewelry collection after the front door to her home was kicked in. The witness also told police the burglar left several other pieces of jewelry.

Police also responded another burglary report where someone entered a home, rummaged through bedrooms and stole a jewelry box.

Police say they don’t know if the men arrested for the Tuesday robbery were involved in the other robberies. The investigation is on-going.
