INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department was involved in a shooting shortly before 4 a.m. Sunday.
The incident happened in the 8900 block of east 21st Street. Police say a man got into an altercation with a clerk at the Country Hearth hotel. Police were called to the scene and advised that the suspect was running out the back of the hotel. The clerk also told police the suspect may be involved in a stabbing that occurred earlier.
When officials arrived, the man was in between the Chase Bank and Little China Restaurant. The suspect refused to obey the officers and a confrontation began.
The officers were forced to shoot the suspect. He has been identified as 19-year-old Anthony Mickle. The officer did not receive any injuries in this incident.
The suspect was taken to Wishard Memorial Hospital in critical condition. He is now in critical but stable condition.
Upon investigation, officers found the suspect was armed with a knife and narcotics.
Crime scene investigators are conducting an investigation.
