LAFAYETTE (WISH) - A Lafayette man was arrested Tuesday for dealing heroin, resisting law enforcement and striking a police K-9.
According to a Lafayette Police Department release, detectives from the Tippecanoe County Drug Task Force served an arrest warrant for Michael L. Neal, 22, in the Claystone at the Crossing apartment complex, for dealing heroin. The warrant stemmed from an investigation where Neal sold heroin to an undercover detective on at least three occasions in 2012.
As officers attempted to place Neal under arrest, he fled on foot. He was later caught by a K-9. Neal struck the K-9 several times in an attempt to escape.
The K-9 was unharmed during the altercation.
Neal was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital to be treated for a dog bite and was taken to the Tippecanoe County Jail.
Anyone with information on any drug activity should call 1-800-78CRIME.
