MONROE COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) - Police in Monroe County say a man who left the scene of several car crashes intentionally set his car on fire to cover up the evidence.

Investigators from the Monroe County Sheriff’s office and Perry Clerk Creek Fire Department responded to the car fire on Thursday.

Monroe County authorities said 25-year-old Kyle A. May poured gasoline on the backseat and floorboard of his car before setting it on fire. The blaze damaged a nearby home, though no one was injured.

May was arrested on a preliminary charge of arson, a Class B felony.
