GEIST, Ind. (WISH) - Indianapolis Metro Police are questioning a man in connection with the murder of a Geist man earlier this week.

Police arrested Toby Hicks, 29, in the 8800 block of Pendleton Pike Friday afternoon. He was taken into custody without incident.

24-Hour News 8 cameras were there as Hicks was brought downtown. He has a previous criminal history that includes criminal recklessness, battery, and theft.

Investigators believe Hicks may have information about the death of Stephen Pence.

A neighbor found 49-year-old Pence dead Wednesday in his home on Windhaven Court.

When police arrived they say they found Pence's garage door half open, an upstairs window broken and music still playing.

At first, they believed Pence's death probably had been an accident.

But later, police told 24-Hour News 8 that Pence was murdered, having died from a blow to the head.

Police aren't saying why they think Hicks could be connected to the murder of Stephen Pence.

24-Hour News 8 asked Sergeant Mount whether the two knew each other, and he said he couldn't comment on that.
