LAWRENCE, Ind. (WISH) - A Lawrence mother was arrested Wednesday afternoon when a shopper discovered a 2-year-old boy left alone in an unlocked vehicle, according to a police report.
The boy was asleep in the back of a car in the parking lot of Walmart, 10735 Pendleton Pike, according to a Lawrence Police Department report. At the time police arrived, it was 33 degrees outside and the car wasn’t running.
Officers put the child in a patrol car to warm him up while waiting for the mother to return. When she did, she told police she was running in to get medicine for another child of hers that was sick.
Police arrested 24-year-old Alicia Rodriguez on a preliminary charge of neglect and turned the boy over to his father.
