LAWRENCE, Ind. (WISH) - A Greenwood woman faces indecent exposure and public indecency charges after police say she rang the doorbell at a Lawrence home, removed her shorts, and urinated on the front porch.

According to police reports, officers were called to the 12000 block of Rosehaven Drive around 2:20 a.m. Sunday after homeowners there reported someone trying to break into the SUV parked in their driveway. The callers reported the suspect was also ringing their doorbell and laying in the driveway.

When officers arrived, they found Kara Ostewig, 27, standing in front of the house without any shorts or underwear on. Officers said Ostewig smelled strongly of alcohol, appeared to be extremely drunk and had been banging on the door asking to be let in. Police at the scene found a large wet spot in front of the home’s front door.

Ostewig had been calling out names while ringing the doorbell, but the names did not match either of the homeowners, police said. There was no visible damage to the SUV.

Ostewig’s mother arrived at the scene and told officers that her daughter had been binge drinking for the last three days and was released from an alcohol treatment center three months ago. She had also been arrested for public intoxication on Wednesday, police dispatchers confirmed.

She now faces additional charges for misdemeanor public intoxication, public indecency and indecent exposure.
