INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - IUPUI police say someone rigged a storage room door in a plan to steal laptops from the School of Education building. Officers say the thieves got away with $12,000 worth of equipment.

Police believe the theft happened some time after July 24.

Investigators say someone shoved Post-it notes into the door frame to prevent the door from latching and then went back in and stole 23 laptops and 28 power cords.

Police say they have copies of the serial numbers and will enter the numbers in nationwide data base to see if any of the lap tops turn up.
