Prosecutors want teen's case in adult court

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Prosecutors plan to push for a case against a 15-year-old suspect in a deadly crime spree to be moved to adult court.

Prosecutors told reporters Wednesday that their goal is to have both of the two teens tried in adult court. The case for 17-year-old Sirquain Burr has already been moved to adult court , where he’s charged with murder and a number of other felony offenses.

The two teens are accused of going on a crime spree that involved stealing cars, killing a man , shooting another man and leading police on a high-speed chase .

A judge entered a not guilty plea on Burr’s behalf.  During the court proceedings Wednesday, Burr kept his head down and made very little eye contact. He only responded with, “yes sir,” and "no sir.”

“I didn’t see him look toward his family much,” said Burr’s Youth Pastor Kevin Andrews.

In videos, Burr rapped about money. He posted pictures of cash on Facebook and, at times, those close to him say it appeared to be the only thing he thought of.

“He was always looking for where he was going to get some cash to go out with friends,” said Andrews.

Investigators say money may have been Burr's motive when he and his 15-year-old alleged getaway driver led police on a two-county high speed chase.

A judge assigned Burr a public defender. His next court hearing is scheduled for April 16.
