ELKHART, Ind. (AP) - A northern Indiana prosecutor has cleared a homeowner of any wrongdoing in fatally shooting a 21-year-old man who broke into his home.
Elkhart County Prosecutor Curtis Hill said Tuesday that the homeowner used reasonable force in defending himself after Danzele Johnson entered his Elkhart home the afternoon of Oct. 3.
The resident told police he was napping when he heard noises and shot Johnson and wounded a teen. The resident wasn't injured.
The Elkhart Truth and WSBT-TV report four males — ages 16 to 18 — face felony murder charges for taking part in a burglary in which a person was killed. Hill says three of the teens entered the house with Johnson while the other was a lookout.
Three of the teens are in custody and other remained at-large.
