SALEM, Ind. (AP) — A southern Indiana man has been charged with reckless homicide in his son's death last summer in a van crash.
Nineteen-year-old Elijah Isaacs of Salem surrendered Friday at the Washington County Sheriff's Department to face an arrest warrant. He remained jailed Tuesday on a $10,000 bond.
WLKY-TV reports investigators say Isaacs was driving too fast went his van went airborne and crashed in August. His family says the crash that killed Isaacs' son, Hayden Overton, was just a terrible accident.
Isaacs' stepfather, Michael McBride, says "you never know what's going to happen from one day to the next."
But Washington County Sheriff's Department Sgt. Larry Motsinger says adults are supposed "to be responsible for the children they have with them."
