SELLERSBURG, Ind. (WISH) - A man turned himself in to police after he realized he was too drunk to drive early Sunday morning in Clark County.
According to police, two troopers were standing in the parking lot at a McDonald’s at Ohio Avenue and State Road 311 in Sellersburg when they noticed a silver Dodge Magnum enter the lot.
The driver, Joshua A. Oakley, 21, from Middlesboro, Kentucky, got out of his car and approached the troopers as they were speaking outside of their police cars.
Police say that Oakley handed his car keys to one of the troopers and advised them that he was too drunk to drive.
Oakley was found to be in an alleged state of intoxication and he also allegedly refused a certified alcohol breath test, police reports stated.
Police arrested Oakley and took him to the Clark County Jail.
According to police, while being processed at the jail, Oakley began to physically resist officers, but he was subdued without injury.
Oakley was arrested on preliminary charges of driving while intoxicated/refusal, a Class D felony; driving while intoxicated, a Class D felony; resisting law enforcement, a Class A misdemeanor and public intoxication, a Class B misdemeanor.
