RUSHVILLE, Ind. (WISH) - Several people, many of them teens, have been arrested in connection with a string of home burglaries in the Rushville area, police said.
Rushville Police Department also located many items reported stolen, but Rushville Assistant Chief Todd Click told 24-Hour News 8 news partner the Rushville Republican that people should take steps to secure their valuables.
“Although the police department is doing everything we can to keep the community safe, we unfortunately live in a different day and age. Society has changed, and the days of feeling safe to leave our homes and vehicles unlocked are over,” Click told the newspaper.
Those arrested last week and the preliminary charges they are facing are:
Brandon Smiley, 19, possession of or receiving stolen property, a Class D felony
Tyler Combs, 19, possession of or receiving stolen property, a Class D felony
Josh North, 22 possession of or receiving stolen property, a Class D felony
16-year-old male, burglary, a Class B felony, and theft and possession of or receiving stolen property, both Class D felonies
16-year-old male, burglary, a Class B felony, and theft, a Class D felony
Dana Vogle, 26, burglary, a Class B felony, and theft and possession of or receiving stolen property, both Class D felonies
Michael Vogle, 29, theft and possession of or receiving stolen property, both Class D felonies
A New Castle man was arrested Wednesday and faces three preliminary felony charges.
